Are you interested in growing your expertise in the domains of environment, energy and urban planning?
This Master’s programme is launched in the framework of the EC2U Erasmus+ Project. As a joint program between the Universities of Coimbra, Poitiers and Turku focused on the challenges of the Sustainable Development Goal 11 « Sustainable Cities and Communities », it aims at training future national and international professionals in the fields of environment, energy, urban planning and natural resources.
The Master in Sustainable Cities and Communities provides students with the opportunity to study abroad and gain multicultural experiences, since each participating University will host one curricular semester.

Objectifs
The EU's existing and planned policy plans and targets in the area of Sustainable Development (for example, the “Green Deal”, launched by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen) will imply the need for many experts with expertise in Sustainability area. The transition to a Green Economy will mean a huge change in the way of thinking, planning and living in cities, communities, companies and other institutions. MSC&C is expected to enable people, with diverse initial backgrounds, to respond to new challenges. These will be placed in the areas of environmental threats, the scarcity of energy resources, ecological degradation, climate change, the circular economy and will require professionals and researchers who master matters and interrelations between essential themes for the analysis of systems with great importance in the use of energy and in the relationship with the environment.

Conditions d'admission
To enter the master program, candidates must have a Bachelor degree in one of the following areas: exact and natural sciences, life sciences, earth sciences, engineering, architecture, economics and management, and other social sciences relevant for the sustainable cities theme, or have a scientific technical curriculum that can be assessed equivalent to the bachelor's degree in areas similar to those previously listed.
The recognition of training obtained in higher education institutions, domestic or foreign, as well as professional experience is possible, provided they are considered appropriate and consistent with the scientific content of the study cycle. The training previously obtained must be properly proven and can be reflected in the allocation of equivalencies for curricular units of the study cycle. The process of recognition and its limits in terms of ECTS are laid out in the Regulation for Recognition of Prior Studies and Professional Experience of the University of Coimbra.
