Description
Responsable du cours : Katherine ZIEMAN
This course will introduce students to a collection of myths frequently encountered in anglophone literature. We will examine early versions of myths such as the Fall, the Golden Age as they occur in the bible, classical myth and non-western mythologies. At the same time we will think about both what and how myths mean. What kind of power do cultural stories possess? How have writers past and present incorporated and adapted myths and the ideas behind them in their own writing?
Objectifs
Familiarity with common cultural myths, the ability to think about the symbolic aspects of narrative.
